Operations as a System

10 stages that turn an operation from a daily firefight into something predictable and scalable.

2 fields. The document opens the moment you press it, and it also reaches you on WhatsApp so it is not lost in a downloads folder.

02 Why this one exists

Most founders run their operations on adrenaline, and adrenaline is not a design.

The day starts with a fire, and then there is another one, and then another. The founder is the firefighter, the dispatcher, the safety officer and the chief inspector all at once. By the evening the founder has worked very hard and the operation has produced output, and yet nothing has actually been built. Tomorrow starts the same way.

That is not excellence. That is firefighting, and it quietly prevents the business from ever becoming something that can run on its own.

Real operational excellence is what you get when the operation works because of how it was designed rather than because of how hard the founder pushed. It produces consistent output, it surfaces problems early, it improves itself, and it grows without breaking.

03 What you leave with

What you will leave with.

  • 01The distinction between excellence as a personal standard and excellence as something you have designed, and an honest reading of which one you are currently practising.
  • 02The 10 stages that turn daily firefighting into an operation that can grow.
  • 03You leave with a first draft map of your own operation, and the 3 largest wastes and blockages are found in the room and pressure tested by other founders.
  • 04A 4 phase plan you can take back on Monday, covering mindset, process, structure and scale, with 2 stages to commit to in each phase and 90 days to begin.

04 The 10 stage loop

The Operations System Loop has 10 stages, and we teach them one at a time.

It turns daily firefighting into an operation that grows by design, and it runs in 10 stages, from defining what excellence means in your business to the scaling rhythm you hold yourself to.

The stage names, and the exercise that goes with each one, are in the free guide at the top of this page and are worked through in the room. A loop you have only read about changes nothing, which is why the room exists.

05 How the session moves

This is how the session moves.

  • 01ReflectWe work on the mindset and on the founder's own role in how the operation currently behaves.
  • 02DiagnoseYou map your operation and find the waste and the blockages.
  • 03DesignYou draft the accountability structure and the measurement layer.
  • 04CommitYou decide what to standardise, what to write down, and what rhythm you will actually hold yourself to.

You will not leave with a toolkit. You will leave with a written diagnosis of your own operation and the design of the thing that will fix it.

06 Who should sit in the room

Who this is for.

  • 01Founders who are still the firefighter in their own business and want to stop being.
  • 02Founders whose teams are busy while the output stays inconsistent.
  • 03Founders who are growing, or want to grow, and suspect the operation will break under the weight of more business.

If your business is still finding its product or its market, this is too early. If you have product, customers, and an operation that depends on you being in every decision, this is exactly what it was built for.
